The project initially aimed to refurbish the building envelope around the balconies, improve the wall’s waterproofing and replace the balconies, doors and affected floor areas.
When the exterior cladding was removed, the team discovered that the load bearing wall was far more damaged than expected. Following an engineering assessment, the decision was made to completely replace the load bearing wall as well as a section of the main beam. A temporary shoring structure was installed across four floors to allow the work to be carried out safely, rebuilding the wall one level at a time while maintaining the building’s curved shape.
We are now moving on to waterproofing the new load bearing wall and replacing the balconies, fully aligned with the project’s initial objectives.
